Cataracts are definitely the number one problem of overall blindness in the world. Secondary cataracts may eventually lead to Glaucoma. Persons over age sixty-five or those who consistently maintain an unhealthy lifestyle of toxins and free-radical absorption are more susceptible to cataracts.
The primary contributing cause of cataracts is free-radical damage and an elevated amount of the metals bromine, cobalt, iridium and nickel. A metal/mineral hair analysis will demonstrate imbalances; your naturopath or nutritionist can interpret the necessary dietary changes. Inadequate nutrition and environmental toxicity both in and outside the home are the primary culprits. An overabundance of toxins in the body that has been accumulated from consistent ingestion of unhealthy non-food additives, refined sugar, dairy, saturated fats and oils (excluding cold-pressed or expeller pressed oil), fluorinated and chlorinated water, exposure to ultraviolet rays, x-rays, plus the free radicals in our food, water and environment. "Science magazine reported that the single greatest cause of cataracts is the body's inability to cope with food sugars. Lactose, a milk sugar, is probably the worst offender, followed by refined white sugar." Environmental chemicals and their toxic residue in and around the home that are NOT organic or at best naturally and environmentally safe will further contribute to cataracts.
Another contributing cause of cataracts is smoking; this is a result of accumulated toxins absorbed in the body from the free radicals. The enzyme deficiency that transforms galactose into glucose is yet another cause of cataracts.
Most people opt for surgery when Cataract illness is diagnosed. Be assured that alternative approaches including dietary changes are beneficial in retarding the growth of cataracts, maintaining a healthy lens, plus protects against the free radical destroyer.
